  • Beard Papa's

My brother brought me to Uwajimaya - a huge Japanese supermarket and in the food court, all I can smell was this fresh bake smell. I couldn't resist and had to stop and buy some to eat! Since this was my first time trying it, I got the classic vanilla cream puff.

The puff was freshly baked, I just saw them take it out of the oven. And then they pump the vanilla creme into the puff and dust with powered sugar. And then into my hands! First bite, it was so good, the cream was creamy and the puff was flaky. So good, I ate them all within minutes. It is pricey so it was a delicious treat reward.

  • The Crab Pot

This is my all time favourite seafood place. I come here every time I am in Seattle. I can't find this similar seafood fest anywhere in Toronto. Just writing this makes me want some right now again. I usually get "The Westport" feast. Comes with dungeness crab, snow crab, shrimp, steamed clams, mussels, sausages, corn and red potatoes tossed in spices. I love how they literally dump the bucket of seafood onto your table. Give you a hammer and begin feasting. You just hammer away at the shells. It is just so good, hot steamy fresh seafood.

Afterwards, you are left with the bucket of remaining shells. I usually like coming to this location versus the Seattle location as it is less crowded but the food is just as good.

  • Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐

It was just opened a few months ago and my brother told me it has been packed here ever since. My brother said the line up has been over hours, very popular place. We were here for lunch time and it was packed, we waited for over an hour before we were seated. They have a window which showed part of their kitchen. There were some chefs there wrapping the dumplings, they were super quick. We were sitting at the back but there was like an empty room right beside us with no one sitting in the tables. What a waste!

We got the steamed pork dumplings, steamed green vegetable with pork dumplings and the steamed mashed taro buns. Each one comes with 10 dumplings. The wrapping was really thin and stuffed a lot of filling in there. Inside was juicy and hot. They were all very tasty. Too bad there wasn't more. The dumplings were expensive, just the 3 sets came out to be like $50 and I was still hungry walking out.

  • The Melting Pot

I've always wanted to try this place as it was an American chain and none in Toronto yet. It was packed at dinner time and with no reservations so we ended up just sitting at the bar as we didn't want to wait for an hour. We got 2 fondues - a salty and a sweet one. First one was Spinach Artichoke Cheese Fondue paired with rustic artisan breads, fresh vegetables and crisp Granny Smith apples. The cheese was very rich

The second was dark chocolate fondue with fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, rice krispies, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies. Good thing we got dark chocolate so it is not sweet, and then dipping with the sweet treats goes well. If we got the sweet chocolate, it will be way too sweet for me.

    I love fondue!!
