  • Smith & Wollensky

Tired from a long day of walking, we wanted some good tasty food. This was one of the recommended restaurants from our hotel concierge so we thought to give it a try. We walked in with no reservations but we did get a table very quickly. There was a big party going on so it seemed like all the waiters were taking care of them instead of other tables. It took awhile for us to get some water, to get bread and to take our order.

We were in luck that this week was "Restaurant Week" in Washington so similar to TO's Summerlicious, 3 course meal for $35. So we gave it a tried to see how it is.

For appetizer, I got their famous split pea soup with fresh croutons. It was very delicious to have warm soup in my tummy. It was well blend but still have lots of chunks of peas. The soup was thick and not watery. With some fresh pepper and fresh croutons was a great match.

For main, of course, I got the broiled hangar steak with asparagus and roasted garlic truffle butter. The steak was pre-cut into slices already but that did not lose the texture or quality. I got medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was quite tender but there was some of the tendon that was very hard to chew. The asparagus was very tough on the other hand, it was old asparagus so I was only able to eat the top part. It was pretty filling!

For dessert, I got the Chocolate cake layered with chocolate ganache. The chocolate filling was so rich and the cake was very dense. I was unable to finish it but it was a good piece of cake.

It was a great meal!! silly
