La Esquina del Lechon
Miami is known for its good Cuban food due to proximity of Cuba. So of course, tonight we have to check one of these restaurants out. There was lots of food!! First off for starters - Mariquitas con Mojo de la Casa which translates to Plantain chips with garlic sauce. The garlic oil was very strong but with the plantain, it was so good. And I don't like even like eating garlic so that tells you how good it is. I couldn't stop myself from eating it while waiting for the main course but I had to save room in my stomach!

Second appetizer is Cuban bread with pork rind. The bread is whiter than the usually dinner rolls and taste better too as it is more dense. The pork rind was fried and crispy. It's a little dry but that's the way it is. I still prefer the Chinese roasted pork.

Then it is to the main course - family style including: grilled chicken breast with onion sauce; slow roasted pork; vegetable sides; white and black bean rice; and Sweet Plantains. It might not look like a lot of food for 4 people but we couldn't finish it. We had leftovers for part of our dinner the next night.

I like the roasted pork the best mix with the vegetable side and the sweet plantains - both sweet and salty. The chicken was a little dry for me.
The meal was not over yet. Next comes dessert. I had the famous flan with caramel sauce. Mmmm...soo good.

And finally, end with some Cuban coffee - cortadito. They said it was super strong coffee so I was expecting that I won't be able to fall asleep tonight but opposite - I fell asleep on the couch while watching tv once we got back to the resort and then slept like a pig at night. I think my full stomach beat the strong caffeine. Now I'm in love with their coffee. Starbucks - walk away (haha)!

We walked out carrying our full tummies with great food.
